Before I decided I wanted to pursuit my passion for fashion, I worked a full time construction job. I know, its odd to see someone like me in construction, but you gotta do what you gotta do to put food on your table and I was damn good at it too. Needless to say, I hated that job and only did it to survive, but out all of the jobs/careers I’ve had (McDonald’s, Car Washer at Subaru/Volkswagen, Cart Pusher at Target, Usher at a movie theatre, College student, etc.), I would have to admit that construction taught me the most skills as a man and to use in everyday life. At Forever Ashbury., we believe in doing everything ourselves, because at the end of the day, if something isn’t done correctly, you can only blame YOURSELF and if you want the job done right the first time, do it YOURSELF. This company only consists of us two.
To rekindle our love for skateboarding and keep active, we decided to build a fun box/bench, which was a replica of one that one of our friend’s dad made for us when we used to skate an empty parking lot at the Bank of America after hours as a kid. We also built a ramp out of the left over wood (Go Purple!). And to follow the title, Jack of All Trades, everything about this video is about US, from the recording, editing, building and skating. We hope it gives you an insight to show you that we’re more complex than just fashion, We are Forever Ashbury., period.
Check out the video below!! Also for other videos click here. And yes, I was wearing my jewelry and Louis Vuitton while doing construction
Look what I have in the middle of my living room, sitting next to Bentley Butterball the Basset Hound’s handmade doghouse/coffee table. This beauty is a fully restored from the ground up, L28 motor. The #F54 block is off of a 81′-83′ 280ZX and the N42 head is off of a ‘75-’80 280Z. This thing is going to be FAST and is going in my car (Quy’s ‘73 240Z) when it is done being a centerpiece in my live/work/office/busy box. Who knows, I might never use it if I can get my hands on a Nissan Skyline RB25DET or RB26DETT Until then, the wrenching continues.
We just added a new car to the collection. We love vintage and classy things here at Forever Ashbury. Things that never go old. Here she is, Jaiden Quy’s 1973 Datsun 240z. She’s a lovely beast and we’ve torn her all apart to rebuild it from the ground up. Take a peek at our new project. We still need to name her also, so give us suggestions.
Meet the new face of Vikki the motorcycle (I name all of my toys and she’s named after my current favorite Pin-Up model, “Vikki Blows” – look her up). I finally have the forks installed. I lowered it 2 inches in the front and 2 inches in the back. It handles like a dream and sounds like a beast!
This is just version 2.0 of the never ending Forever Ashbury. cafe racer project. This is a special project for me because I did nearly everything myself and it’s my creation coming into fruition. I love every type of automobile, motorcycle, gadget, technology and widget there is, so this type of stuff is always fun. She’s going to evolve through many ‘outfits’ and looks before I think she’s going to be done. This is her tough bad girl stage. I’m anxious myself to see how she’s going to end up looking like. Stay tuned.
