In the late 80’s and early 90’s, the bikes that every kid on the block had to have was a GT bmx bike. GT Dyno, GT Performer, GT Freestyle, GT Slammer, etc. I always wanted a chrome GT with mag rims, but that era in Long Beach was a dangerous one, where gangs ran the streets and jacking/killing for sneakers were the cool thing to do. With that said, coming from a lower income family and living in the hood where a flashy bike like a GT would be gone in 60 seconds, my parents like most others decided to get me a cheaper and less cool Huffy. Now that I’m a grown up, I can buy my own toys and anyone trying to jack me will get drop kicked in the throat Took me a while to find one I like but finally, meet my latest project, a 1988 GT Performer with black mag wheels. It’s a great survivor and is ready for it’s transformation into a “Forever Ashbury. Edition” GT. Keep checking back for updates and see what we do to this one. Customize errrthang!

Forever Ashbury Opens On Broadway

January 31, 2012 – On December 19, Forever Ashbury opened between Cherry and Hermosa Avenues at 1828 E. Broadway. Owned by Johnny Phan and Jaiden Quy Do, pictured, from left, the store stocks an assortment skateboards, hats, accessories and men and women’s clothing. Phan and Do, who “view fashion as an art form . . . [that] can be used to express personality and individuality” according the store’s Web site, embellish Forever Ashbury’s products with variations of the company’s logo, from the cursive “Ashbury” emblem to the unique “Dripping Kiss” design. In addition to clothing and accessories, the store also retails a variety of skateboard equipment such as wheels, trucks and more. Forever Ashbury is open Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. and is closed on Monday. For more information, visit www.foreverashbury.com or call 562/432-8300. Saturday, December 17th marks the day of priceless memories for us. This was the day of our ‘Private Grand Opening Party’. All of our blood, sweat, tears, heart & soul went into making our store a reality. We finally got a chance to unveil it to our friends & family. The night was a complete success filled with smiles, laughter & just all around good vibes. We want to thank our family & friends from the bottom of our heart for the love and continued support. We really couldn’t do it without you.

A special shout out goes to our friends over at Marquez de Valencia for blessing us with their premium tequila all night long. We would also like to thank Matt Simmerman from Dubtree for the amazing pictures once again, you’re awesome man!

Finally we have Nate Sok of 24 Karat Pictures for filming this memorable occasion. Thank you for all your hard work Nat. The video is amazing.

A fellow ‘Z’ lover brought his 1971 Series 1 240z over to the Forever Ashbury. headquarters. Dont sleep on the Zzz’z.

The small subtle features that distinguish a Series 1 over the rest of the Z’s. Emblems, trimming, buttons, etc.

Twins.

Although it looks beat and tattered inside, the frame and structure of the car is relatively straight and rust free. Great bones for restoration.

Video of some of the artwork that we did in our Forever Ashbury. store, opening December 19th 2011. It’s a Banksy inspired piece and a play on our “Ashbury Box Logo”. Everything was made by us, from plotting the vinyl, to building the purple stained wooden sign, to the painting. Forever Ashbury. is more than a clothing line or skateboard shop, it’s a reflection of our interests and will always be an outlet for our creativity. We weren’t lying when we were saying this is just a tip of the iceberg. This is just a FRACTION of what you could expect from Forever Ashbury. as a brand and as a flag ship store. True DIYer’s.
